Language and Culture in the Preparation of Bilingual Teachers by Barbara J. Merino & Christian Faltis - 1993In this chapter we describe and examine the education of prospective
teachers who are expected to work in culturally and linguistically diverse
settings. In many cases such teachers will work in bilingual education
programs but they may also work in English as a second language
(ESL) programs, structured immersion, two-way immersion, or
sheltered English programs and at the secondary level even in foreign
