Three Views of Change in Educational Politics

by Laurence Iannaccone - 1977

The world of educational politics and change today teems with dilemmas. But as Getzels has pointed out, "dilemmas do not present themselves automatically as problems capable of resolution or even of profitable contemplation." The purpose of this chapter is to describe the meaning and significance of political change in education and to explain it insofar as the research on educational politics allows. The approach taken rests on the belief that problem finding is the critical activity in the advancement of knowledge. In essence, the chapter consists of three answers in search of a question.
