Computers and the Curriculum

The goal of this chapter is to explain how efforts to use computers for education may affect the curriculum. This analysis begins with the motives that spur so many to advocate the use of computers for education, proceeds to consider some of the many ways schools might use computers, each of which has different implications for curricular impact, then looks at the implementation problems schools will need to overcome in order to use computers, and finally ventures some predictions grounded in these analyses about the possible futures for computers in schools.
