Elite Power and Democratic Ideals

The purpose of this chapter is not to settle the debate between the pluralists and the elite theorists, but to see what recent contributions to the dispute reveal about power and democratic ideals in the United States today. Further, it will be argued that the conditions of power in contemporary society both rely upon and contribute to the miseducation of citizens.
