Assessment, Accountability and the Classroom: A Community of Judgment by Mark Wilson - 2004The generating idea behind this volume is that there has been insufficient attention paid to the central place of the classroom in our thinking about the role of assessment in educational accountability. This introductory chapter is intended to be somewhat provocative. In it I attempt to help the reader see beyond the current state of affairs in terms of the relationship between classroom assessment and accountability and to consider some wider perspectives and possibilities. Hopefully, this will also help the reader step into the spirit of the discussion that is inherent in the chapters that follow.
