    MARIE C. WHITE is an associate professor in the Nyack College School of Education. She is department chair of both the Adolescent and Childhood Education Departments at the New York City campus. Dr. White obtained her doctorate from The City University of New York, Graduate Center in educational psychology. She maintains an active research agenda in self-regulation of learning, specifically focusing on help seeking and standards based teaching. Dr. White has recently published a book, Self-Regulation and the Common Core: Applications to ELA Standards, that provides teachers with a handbook to use standards to increase self-regulated learning experiences in the classroom. In addition, she has coauthored a book Developing Self-Regulation of Learning and Teaching Skills Among Teacher Candidates. Currently she is preparing a chapter for the upcoming second edition of the Handbook of Self-Regulation of Learning and Performance.
