The University of Texas at San Antonio E-mail Author RICHARD DIEM is Dean Emeritus of the Honors College and Professor Emeritus of Education at The University of Texas at San Antonio. In addition to his work at UTSA, he has also taught at in the public schools in suburban Chicago, Northern Illinois University, Texas Women’s University and the Escola de Superior in Viseu, Portugal.
His professional work includes 7 books, 98 articles, 120 papers, and over 7 million dollars in grant and funded awards. In addition he has received two Fulbright-Hays Professorships as well as numerous other honors including the Irving Morrisett lifetime achievement award for Excellence in Social Science Education. He has also served as President of the National Council for the Social Studies.
Diem’s major research interests have been the application of technology to educational environments and the cultural implications of information and technological dependence in school settings.
