    ELIZABETH SPALDING is a professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where she teaches courses in English education. She is an active member of the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) and former director of a National Writing Project site. She was Project Manager for Standards at the NCTE in Urbana, Illinois where she worked on the development of the national standards for English language arts. Her most recent publication, with co-authors Jesus Garcia and Joseph A. Braun, is An Introduction to Standards-Based Reflective Practice for Middle and High School Teaching (2010) published by Teachers College Press. She is currently working on a project to collect life histories of Holocaust survivors in Las Vegas.
