Using resources and capacity as the common lens to examine NCLB, this collection of studies illuminates how far reaching and monumental the act is. The reader is able to gain an appreciation for the nearly inconceivable work required of state education agencies, school districts, and schools to meet the 588 (yes, you read that correctly) federal mandates the law encompasses.
The intended audience for this book is academic researchers, policymakers, and practitioners at the local, state, and national levels, and I wholeheartedly agree that this audience has much to gain from reading this book. McDaniel College E-mail Author DARIA BUESE is an Assistant Professor and the Coordinator for the Curriculum and Instruction Program in Graduate and Professional Studies at McDaniel College in Westminster, MD. Her research focuses on the impact of high stakes accountability policies on the work of teachers. Currently she has turned that interest to examining how such policies influence graduate level teacher education programs. She coauthored Test Driven: High Stakes Accountability in Elementary Schools (2008).
