Most assuredly, Title IX helped free girls and women from oppressive forms of sex discrimination in public schools that limited their prospects and potential. The flourishing careers of women in the realms of law, medicine, the military, politics, and sport can be traced, in no small measure, to the power of Title IX to remove barriers to educational access and opportunity.
