A Pig Don’t Get Fatter the More You Weigh It: Classroom Assessments that Work is a general introduction to classroom assessment that is intended as a guide for both practicing teachers and preservice students. SUSAN M. BROOKHART, Ph.D., is an independent educational consultant based in Helena, Montana, and Senior Research Associate in the Center for Advancing the Study of Teaching and Learning at Duquesne University. Her research specialty area is classroom assessment. She is the 2007-2009 editor of Educational Measurement: Issues and Practice, a journal of the National Council on Measurement in Education. She is the author of two books, The Art and Science of Classroom Assessment and Grading, and of Formative Assessment Strategies for Every Classroom, an ASCD ActionTOOL (notebook of materials for teachers), and the co-author of three other assessment textbooks. She serves on the editorial board of Teachers College Record.
