    • Dear Editor, I'm writing to see if you would be interested in publishing a book review of Dr. Lisa Farley's Childhood Beyond Pathology: A Psychoanalytic Study of Development and Diagnosis, that just came out this month. It is spectacular. She often works from a psychoanalytic and curriculum theory framework, and this book is really an attempt to consider the child beyond psychology and its developmental stages. Her working definition of childhood, which I find remarkable, is the experience of entering into a new world and the struggle to find one's role with oneself and with others. Her book traces the various cultural tropes of childhood that both limits and expands their humanity and then draws on the literary child, in novels and books, to speak on their singularity, outside the demands of the adult. It's beautifully written and I think faculty and students, anyone who works with children, could really benefit from the conversation. I would be more than happy to write the review. Teachers College and CUNY are collaborating on an event on March 7 where we invite Dr. Farley to speak with a panel of other scholars in the field of critical childhood studies. Let me know if this is of interest and when you would like the submission. Debbie Sonu Associate Professor Hunter College Teachers College, alum (2009)
