Introduction
With the increasingly interconnected educational and employment ecosystems, credential innovations are trailblazing multiple pathways to professions for inclusive excellence. Breaking through credential granting conventions, the new generation of credentials, e-credentials, and alternative credentials offers competitive advantages for both professional growth and career advancement. The recent proliferation of micro-credentials and digital badges, for example, reflects heightened cross-sector interests and indicates growing potential to disrupt both traditional schooling and career ladders. At the same time, the varying quality and value of these credentials are generating confusion within the current educational and employment landscapes. As researchers, practitioners, industry leaders, and policy makers continue to break new grounds in the field, credential innovations will continue to impact future practices across educational, employment, and policy arenas on how learning and credentials are designed, experienced, and awarded.

Objective
The book aims to investigate the state of credential innovations, exam issues and trends, share promising theories and practices, and explore implications with case studies highlighting a broad range of credentials issued through agencies such as institutions of higher education (IHEs), local educational agencies (LEAs), private industries, regulatory agencies, and/or professional associations. With the proliferation of credentials, e-credentials, and alternative credentials in education and the workplace, we invite you to share insights through chapter submission.

Target Audience
Integrating credential innovation theories and practices, the target audience for the book includes IHE researchers and educators, LEA administrators and practitioners, industry leaders, and policy makers at local, state, national, and international levels.

Recommended Topics
Topics may include, but are not limited to, the following areas:

Case Studies. Authors are encouraged to submit case studies on credentials, e-credentials, and/or alternative credentials, such as micro-credentials, digital badges, credits for prior learning, dual-enrollments, and/or other forms of credential innovations. Contents may include, but are not limited to, a summary of institutional contexts, purposes, and types of credentials offered, contents and constructs of the credential model(s), development and implementation processes, data collection and outcomes analysis, and lessons learned and implications for the future.

Theory, Practice, and/or Policy. Authors are encouraged to submit chapter entries on visions, theories, practices, and/or policies on credentials, e-credentials, and/or alternative credentials at regional, state, national, and/or international levels. Contents may include, but are not limited to, analysis/meta-analysis of current policies, practices, progress, challenges, and/or recommendations.

Assessment, Validation, Transparency, Portability and/or E-credentialing Technology. Authors are encouraged to submit chapter entries on innovations in assessment and validation strategies, approaches to increasing transparency and portability, and/or current use and advancement of e-credentialing technology.

Submission Procedure
Researchers, practitioners, industry leaders, and policy makers are invited to submit on or before February 23, 2021, a chapter proposal of 1,000 to 2,000 words clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter. Authors will be notified by March 12, 2021, about the status of their proposals with chapter guidelines. Full chapters are expected to be submitted by May 8, 2021, and final revisions are due by July 19, 2021. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project.
