THE PARENT INVOLMENT AND EMPOWERMENT KEY

Posted By: leah werner on January 23, 2004

BRAVO TO JOSH KAGAN FOR HIS INSIGHTFUL ARTICLE THAT CLEARLY
DOCUMENTS THAT TEACHER-PARENT COALITION IS THE KEY TO CHANGE FOR DISENFRANCHISED STUDENTS.AFFLUENT AND SUBURBAN
PARENTS ARE STRONGLY INVOLVED IN THEIR CHILDREN'S SCHOOLS, AT EVERY LEVEL OF PARTICIPATION. THESE PARENTS ARE THE MOST POWERFUL ADVOCACY FOR THE "BEST" OF EVERYTHING FOR 'MARY'OR 'JOHNNY'. HOPEFULLY, THIS ENLIGHTENS OUR
EDUCATIONAL ADMINISTRATORS AND LEADERSHIP TO STOP THEIR
GENERATIONAL DISRESPECT FOR PARENTS OF COLOR, ELL, AND
POVERTY.COLLABORATIVE LIVING COMMUNITIES ARE OUR FUTURE.
