Seeking suggestions -- importance of math skills for elementary educators

Posted By: Elizabeth Sundermeyer on September 10, 2009

A math instructor at our community college is teaching a course for future elementary teachers. Her students do not think the skills she is teaching them will be necessary for teaching elementary school students. We would like to show them some research on how elementary school sets the tone for future success in math, and perhaps how important strong math skills and theory are for quality instruction. (To me, this is all common sense, but we'd like to show the students some numbers to make the point.) Any suggestions?
