Lesesne Publisher: Stenhouse Publishers, Portland ISBN: 1571103813, Pages: 232, Year: 2003 Search for book at Amazon.com “To me, books are life!” Teri S. Lesesne proclaims
in her reading autobiography, an instructional strategy presented
in her book, Making the Match: The Right Book for the Right
Reader at the Right Time, Grades 4-12. This statement reflects
the passion that Lesesne puts into her work as she shares her
extensive knowledge of young adult (YA) books and their
readers—adolescents and young adults ranging from ten to
twenty years old. The author’s dedication, “to the
hundreds of students who have allowed me to talk incessantly about
books,” will draw kindred spirits into her work. Lesesne,
nicknamed “The Book Lady” by adolescents and
colleagues, demonstrates in Making the Match that she does
indeed know books.
Lesesne’s dedication and introduction convey that her
heart is in her work and in this book. While Making the
Match is an informational text for pre-service and in-service
teachers, as well as for college instructors, Making the
Match is also a book to enrich the spirit of the educator.
