These books are testimonials to Louis Round Wilson, librarian and educator, published to mark the occasion of his 90th birthday which occurred in 1966. Wilson developed the notable library of the University of North Carolina as well as the University's press in the course of a thirty-year career; he advanced the pioneering library school at the University of Chicago for ten years, 1932-1942; after that he returned to Chapel Hill as an effective teacher of librarianship for another ten-year period before "retirement." Wilson accomplished even more. He was among the first to encourage young women to take their part in the world of librarianship. He actively identified himself with the education of Negroes and the promotion of libraries for them.
