WILLIAM H. JEYNES is a professor of education at California State University, Long Beach, and has graduate degrees from Harvard University and the University of Chicago. Dr. Jeynes has written numerous articles on parental involvement, including three meta-analyses. He is currently writing a book on parental involvement entitled, Parental Involvement and Academic Success (Taylor & Francis). His articles have appeared in Teachers College Record, Elementary School Journal, Cambridge Journal of Education, two Harvard journals, Journal of Negro Education, and many other academic journals. Dr. Jeynes has given numerous speeches in many forums on the relationship between family factors and student educational outcomes, including speaking for the White House, members of Congress, the U.S. Department of Education, the U.S. Department of Justice, Harvard University, the National Press Club, and the acting president of Korea. In all, he has spoken in nearly every state and in every inhabited continent. Dr. Jeynes has worked with and spoken for the Harvard Family Research Project and is a member of the International Network of Scholars based at Johns Hopkins University.
