People who were held back/"failed" a grade who later went on to pursue careers in education

Posted By: Jill Johnson on February 23, 2002

I'm looking for people who were held back a grade in grade school, who eventually went on to pursue careers in education. I am a college administrator working on my doctrate in Educational Leadership. I was also held back and am now looking for people who are willing to be a part of my qualitative dissertation.

My objective is to learn how people made the life changing transition from being unsuccessful in school to succeeding in school as a career. I'm most interested in the tranformative process that allowed people to successfully engage the parts of their lives that had previously rejected them.

It would be my idealistic hope that the study could benefit those that had previously struggled -- to know that education does not need to remain a barrier in their lives. The study could help people who were held back know that they can be successful at getting an education and pursuing any type of professional career.

Thank you for taking time to read this. If you fit this group or know someone who does, please send an email to nosnhojllij@yahoo.com. I promise to be extremely respectful of all that respond.
