Metacognition and Study Skills

Posted By: Jeanne Tregoning on September 3, 2003

Back in the '80s I was fascinated by the word, "metacognition." Then, I began teaching college students "to learn how to learn." My college students would share that they wished they had learned the techniques in grade, middle, and high school. Some of them had been exposed to some of the materials; however, it takes at least 21 days to establish a habit. Hopefully, the tools will be used daily by students, teachers and parents until habits are established.

Late spring or early summer, I shared that I would post information, an outline, or curriculum on study skills. I have not forgotten and will not let the membership down. I hope to have the information posted in the next couple of weeks.

We have had a downsizing in the Department of Corrections, and work has consumed my time.

Maybe I'll need some help as to where and how to post.

Thanks, and have a great school year!

Sincerely,
Jeanne
