A Sense of Power

Posted By: Camilla Greene on May 18, 2003
Dear David,
I wrote an article for my National School Reform Faculty newsletter called "A Sense of Power." It has been my experience that very few teachers want to or know how to infuse poor students and students of color in urban high schools with a sense of power. As an educator I believe that the purpose of education is to prepare our students to transform the world and transform the current educational system. Most teachers, whether they realize it or not are interested in "controlling' high school students and most teachers teach students how to maintain the status quo.

Just my thoughts. Peace. Camilla
