I am unaware of any rebuttals. As I understand the situation, shortly after that refutation Boaler was politely disinvited from staying at Stanford and left for the UK. A couple of years ago she came back -- tempora mutantur, I guess. Just yesterday I watched her and a local third-grade teacher vax poetic over a video clip showing the "engagement" and the "creativity" of third graders asked to solve a trivial first grade problem of 23-8 in "multiple ways." What I saw is a few kids trying to make their teacher happy with a "problem" that was no problem for them. And the rest of kids bored stiff. But, then, what do I know?

Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.
