Virtual "Mentoring communities"

Posted By: Luis Barnola on February 5, 2002

I have a profound interest in better understand the potential of ICTs (Internet) in articulating complex webs of social interaction and mutual support. Can a so-called "virtual community" become a "mentoring" community? (as described by Laurent Parks Daloz in his chapter "Transformative Learning for the Common Good"--In Learning as Transformation) How can trust be fostered in these invisible spaces where only a few really participate while the majority lurk for pieces of information that help them build up their virtual constituencies? Any advice as for where can I read more about this topic?
Thanks in advance,
Luis Barnola
