Where Was the Passion? Where Is the Debate?

Posted By: Dick Schutz on June 20, 2006

The axiological and ideological questions Shaker and Heilman raised in 2004 have only been further limed by subsequent events, not only in pre-collegiate Edcuation, but in other US policy sectors. While the questions apply to the Right, they are applicable to the full political spectrum. But the academy and the philanthroies, where people have the luxury of debate, appear comatose. Students are left floundering somewhere between the comatose academics and the passionate ideologs--and it's not a pretty sight.
