teacher training

Posted By: steve hoelscher on November 7, 2000

I was a member of the staff at Granite School and would advance the thought that teacher training should not be stereo typed for urban vrs. suburban students but what is important for a teacher to establish as beliefs. Do teacher education students believe in mastery learning for all students, do teacher education students believe that the school has control over all the variables for student success. I have observed many suburban schools that have groups of students that do not perform well but are hidden by the performance of the majority of students. Teacher education programs could advance the idea that teachers to be effective need to look internally at what they can do to impact student success and not to look externally for excuses as to why a student is not succeeding.
