Teacher Portfolios

Posted By: Jeanne Harmon on June 18, 2004
Washington State has two projects underway that may be of interest. We recently instituted a second-level license that is performance based (required within the first five years of teaching) and are currently in the process of revising the requirements. By the fall, we'll have something ready to share.

We are also working on a set of standards and criteria for mentors and coaches - when finished, we hope to create a performance-based assessment that would lead to a state certificate for teaching adults who work alongside and in support of other teachers.

In place already is a set of standards for teachers at the end of preservice. See the state website for details of our Residency Certificate: www.k12.wa.us

Let me know if I can be of help,
