|Dear TCR members: I am currently working as a teacher-on-loan from my district to the Delaware DOE. My task is to research Lesson Study, present the program to teachers throughout the state, and assist groups who want to implement it. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the activity, it involves groups of teachers in planning, teaching, observing and evaluating lessons collaboratively. Lesson Study is ongoing professional development, engaged in during 3-8 week cycles throughout the year. It is classroom-centered, and maximizes what teachers are already doing in their classrooms every day. As such, it may be more relevant and valid than other types of off-site professional development.|
My message to teachers becomes powerful when I can cite locations around the country where Lesson Study is being practiced. I would like to hear from anyone who is familiar with Lesson Study, is implementing it, or wants to know more about it.
