THE REFORM OF MODERN LANGUAGE TEACHING IN GERMANY It is desirable to give an analysis as accurate as possible of the contents of Vietor's pamphleti which exercised so material an influence upon the reorganization of modern foreign language teaching in Germany, especially as an English translation, I am sorry to say, has not appeared. Vietor takes us first of all into a class-room where the instruction is conducted according to the traditional method, in order to indicate how perverted a course the teachers are pursuing.
