Course in Nature Study in the Horace Elementary School: The Course of Study: General Remarks on the Course

by Elizabeth Carss 1900

II. GENERAL REMARKS ON THE COURSE IN NATURE STUDY IN THE HORACE MANN SCHOOL In the following outline there has been no attempt to present an ideal course in nature study, but simply one that seems best suited to the present needs of the elementary grades of the Horace Mann School. An effort has been made to utilize every advantage that our locality affords and to begin with familiar objects near us. We are fortunate in still having some unoccupied space about the city and in being within short distance of several excellent places for field work, beside enjoying privileges in the way of museums and collections that the municipality affords to all schools within its limits.
