With Hoosier Honor, add another volume to the shelf of Bob Knight hagiography. In the few years since John Feinstein’s A Season on the Brink, there has been no shortage of authors desiring to run to coach Knight’s defense and replace the veil that Feinstein stripped away. (Feinstein’s book was more admiring and complementary than Knight or his defenders would have you believe, but in the world of big-time college athletics, only biased reporting is respected as gospel.) In 1988, Joan Mellen, an English professor at Temple University, hit the best-seller lists with Bob Knight: His Own Man, a fawning, embarrassing work of revisionist history from which Sulek often quotes. Sulek is not a revisionist; he works with facts and numbers.
