Those who have been impoverished graduate students may remember a funny feeling on returning in the evenings to their quonset hut, or 6th floor walk-up apartment, and observing still another meal of chicken in disguise. This reviewer experiences a similar feeling, though of a more academic sort, when a new introductory textbook in educational psychology appears on his desk. The text, too, is often disguished. It may be garnished with a title such as Psychological Foundations of Education or The Psychology of Classroom Learning but the same basic ingredients are there—learning, development, and measurement. The fact is that, at present in print, there are 82 books which might be used as texts in introductory educational psychology courses. It is reasonable, therefore, to ask of any new educational psychology textbook what special contribution it is making. A contribution made by Stones' book is that it is written literately.
