    ADRIAN BARNES is an assistant professor of instrumental music education and the coordinator of music education at Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey. Dr. Barnes' research interests include using rap/hip-hop in the music classroom, informal music learning, and the recruitment of historically marginalized populations by collegiate music ensemble directors at minority-serving institutions. Dr. Barnes’ most recent publication, “A Philosophy of Music Education According to Kant,” was published in The Journal of Aesthetic Education in 2017. Dr. Barnes is currently working on presenting findings from his study, which focused on the recruitment strategies employed by ensemble directors at minority-serving institutions to increase the representation of historically marginalized populations.

    LISA J. VERNON-DOTSON is a professor in the Department of Interdisciplinary and Inclusive Education and coordinator of the Teacher Leadership Program in the College of Education at Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey. Her most recent publications include a co-authored book chapter entitled "Developing Teacher-Leaders Using a Distributed Leadership Model: The Interaction of Data and Research in J. Jana Hunzicker's (Ed.) Teacher Leadership in Professional Development Schools" in 2018 and a co-authored manuscript "'It’s Pretty Bad Out There': Challenging Teacher Perspectives Through Community Engagement in a Mentor Training Program" in School Community Journal. Dr. Vernon-Dotson's current projects include a funded multi-year project focused on building teacher leadership capacity. She has multiple publications on the topic of teacher leadership and leadership teams in schools.
