About the Author
  • Irene Yoon
    University of Utah
    E-mail Author
IRENE H. YOON is an assistant professor of Educational Leadership & Policy in the College of Education at the University of Utah. Her main concern is with sustaining dignity and belonging for marginalized students in racially diverse schools. Irene’s research explores dynamics of race, class, gender, and ability in classroom discourse, teacher collaboration, professional learning, and school reform. Because of this equity lens on professional learning, she has developed a collaborative strand of research on schools’ and leaders’ experiences with accountability-mandated school improvement. Her current research investigates the nature of leadership and school culture in school-wide inclusion for students of color with emotional and behavioral disabilities. She has published in American Educational Research Journal, Race Ethnicity and Education, Teachers College Record, Journal of Cases in Educational Leadership, and the Sage Encyclopedia of Diversity in Education, edited by James A. Banks.
