    KENNETH FASCHING-VARNER is a Shirley B. Barton Endowed Associate Professor of School of Education at Louisiana State University. Dr. Varner is also a faculty member of the Curriculum Theory Project and the African and African-American Studies program at LSU. Fasching-Varner’s areas of scholarly expertise and interest center on the intersection of White Racial Identity (WRI), Critical Race Theory (CRT), and Culturally Relevant Pedagogy. He has published articles in Social Identities: Journal for the Studies of Race, Nation, and Culture, Linguistics and Education, and Midwest Educational Researcher as well as contributions in texts by Peter Lang, The International Reading Association, and Nova publishers. Fasching-Varner studied Language, Literacy, and Culture with a focus on Critical Race Theory and Culturally Relevant Pedagogy at The Ohio State University in Columbus Ohio.

    LINDSAY STEWART is a graduate of the Louisiana State University Holmes program and following the completion of this program, she taught fifth grade in southeast Louisiana for three years. She is pursuing a doctorate degree at LSU in the Curriculum and Instruction program. She is passionate about the following: the prioritizing of award winning children's literature, teacher preparation programs in relation to practical experience, and the new teacher experience in relation to the overall schooling system in place.
