    SEDEF UZUNER SMITH is an Assistant Professor at Lamar University, Beaumont, TX, where she developed the online Preparation Program for ESL Teacher Certification. One line of her research focuses on teaching and learning in online and blended environments, and another line of her research examines second language academic literacy from a sociocultural perspective. Smith has published articles and research in The Internet and Higher Education, Studies in Continuing Education, Journal of Online Learning and Teaching, International Review of Research in Open and Distance Learning, Educational Media International, and Journal of English for Academic Purposes.
