    Dr. STEVE JENKINS is Associate Professor and Chairman of the Educational Leadership department at Lamar University, Beaumont, Texas. Dr. Jenkins has spent more than 35 years working in public schools as a teacher, building administrator, and central office administrator. He has also served as an administrator in a state education agency, an executive director of a national research and development center, and a university professor. Dr. Jenkins’ experience also includes nearly a decade working as a teacher and administrator in a large inner city school district, as well as working with smaller school districts as an administrator with a state education agency. He has had several texts and articles published in the areas of civil and educational rights, school law, cultural proficiency and inclusion. Along with his teaching and administrative leadership experience, Dr. Jenkins has also worked with inner-city youth, promoting law-related education and civic participation. Through research, writing and strong professional development, Dr. Jenkins worked to create a variety of partnerships with public schools and the legal community, from the American Bar Association to state and local bar associations. In addition to a strong background in school law and instructional leadership, Dr. Jenkins has worked to explore ways to improve classroom and campus cultures, and implement programs design to successfully resolve conflicts. He is a trained mediator, and has worked to implement more than 500 conflict management programs in public schools, colleges and universities throughout the United States. He has also been an expert witness in helping to successfully resolve school desegregation cases. Dr. Jenkins has previously held teaching positions at Webster University, Sul Ross State University and the University of Texas of the Permian Basin (UTPB). He received his Doctor of Education from Baylor University.
