The Evidence on Germany of the Politician-Participants

by Mary S. Berna 1942

IN ITS ISSUE OF NOVEMBER 15th this magazine carried an editorial by Robert D. Leigh summing up the points at issue in the debate then being carried on over the question of America's participation in the war. With the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the subsequent entrance of America as a united nation into the world conflict, the "Great Debate" was cut short by events. For some, therefore, the necessity of dwelling on the points at issue in this debate was obviated. But for the intelligent lay citizen these points retain interest and meaning because his thinking about them and his efforts to obtain information about them are typical of his efforts to think and to judge clearly on all-important questions of national policy.
