The probabilities that the editor's predictions that the book will give readers “an unpleasant stimulus in the region of the cervical vertebrae” are fairly certain of realization. It is more likely to eventuate because of the uncomfortable position the reader assumes while dozing, than because of the shock due to originality and pertinence of the revelations herein. It is like the Mikado, unnecessary, and therefore destined to be ineffectual, though the reviewer devoutly wishes the contrary.
