What Are Schools Doing?

IF ONE believes that America can save Europe and the world from the evils of undemocratic government, from rule by force instead of by reason, then the time to begin preparing young Americans for that exalted purpose is now. In a society as confused and problem-ridden as ours there is some satisfaction in finding a "constructive" goal to shoot at, as well as an outlet for the natural idealisms of the boys and girls who are tomorrow's citizens.
