New Directions for Educational Policy

This commentary discusses the impact of the No Child Left Behind Act and recent trends in educational policy. It suggests novel avenues for improving America’s public schools. Further, it maintains that as educators we should foster a public culture that supports greater internationalism. It concludes with a call for the increased use of “soft power” to spread democratic values through education at home and abroad.
