Intelligence Reframed: Multiple Intelligences for the 21st Century

Howard Gardner has had a major impact on the way educators think about human intelligence. Seventeen years have passed since the publication of his seminal book (Frames of Mind, 1983). His thinking and writing about multiple intelligences have struck a chord that has resulted in a move away from the psychometric view of the mind. Gardner was not the first to attack this view, but it was his work that resulted in hundreds of publications, and thousands of schools, here and abroad, that have attempted to implement in some way the notion of multiple intelligences. This new book by Gardner is based on a series of essays previously published. As a result, the chapters are somewhat loosely connected and there is some redundancy. He provides the reader with a highly readable and provocative report on what has happened to MI theory. The original seven intelligences he proposed were linguistic, logical-mathematical, musical, bodily kinesthetic, spatial, interpersonal, and intrapersonal.
