Somehow it seems to be a personal affront to find that there is still a need for a book about female administrative aspirants, but the cause is well documented in this treatise. Edson points out the need for a change in attitude on the part of those who continue to stand in the way of progress in the hiring of female administrators. Gender remains a major issue in the selection of female aspirants in educational administration because in many cases they are not considered seriously, and unfortunately there are numerous districts that remain reluctant “to go with a woman.” Through a series of quotations from responses to questionnaires of 142 women who participated in the study, Edson manages to weave the story of female aspirants in a colorful manner and still maintain the fiber of the quantitative data.
