Bates College E-mail Author ANITA S. CHARLES, Ph.D., is Director of Teacher Education and lecturer at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. She recently published a chapter entitled “'There’s a relationship': Negotiating cell phone use in the high school classroom," in the book Researching new literacies: Design, theory, and data in sociocultural investigation, edited by C. Lankshear & M. Knobel (2017; New York, Peter Lang Publ.). She is currently conducting research on "inclusive practices for children with disabilities in India," after completing four months as a Fulbright Scholar in New Delhi in 2016. Areas of interest include special education, teacher education, and literacy.
