Western Carolina University E-mail Author Carrie Rogers, PhD, is Associate Professor at Western Carolina University in the School of Teaching and Learning. She earned her doctorate after being a classroom teacher in Minneapolis for several years. Her research interests are practical leadership and teacher agency. Her areas of expertise are action research and curriculum development, with an emphasis on connecting the two while assisting teachers as they conduct research within their own classrooms to improve curriculum delivery and student learning. She has recently published an article on her own action research in teacher education (Rogers, 2016), co-authored a book on literacy development (Helman, Rogers, Frederick & Struck, 2016) and has edited a forthcoming book on educational leadership.
