Schools as Laboratories in General and Professional Education

Nearly everybody works and plays with children at some time in his adult life. The young of the species seem to be everywhere, and as time goes on they enter into more and more adult activities. Parents and policemen, teachers and preachers must all deal with children and participate in rearing them. Yet, until recently, there have been few formal opportunities for adolescents or young adults to learn what children are like and how they may be dealt with constructively.
