Organizational Patterns of Schools and Classrooms for Reading Instruction

by Harry W. Sartain 1968

This chapter presents criteria to be considered in judging proposed organizational patterns and then applies them to various patterns in use today. Because most research projects have not been designed to measure and control halo effects and all of the many variables involved, few of their findings have been conclusive. Most available research is best used to indicate trends rather than to supply answers. Consequently, the philosophically derived criteria offered in this chapter are considered to be fully as significant as the results of the research for judging the patterns of school and classroom organization.
