Aesthetic Literacy in General Education

The argument in this chapter is threefold: that aesthetic experiences should be given a central place in general education; that such experiences require a distinctive mode of literacy; and that classroom teachers and general educators, working in cooperation with art teachers and practicing artists, are potentially capable of enabling students to learn how to learn to be literate in this way.
