Editors' Preface (Evaluation and Education)

To mark the twenty-fifth anniversary of the emergence of modern educational evaluation, we decided to revisit some of the classic contributions of the past quarter century--contributions to the literature on program evaluation. We extended invitations to the authors to think again about their original topics—the topics they had helped to clarify in their original and ground-breaking works. We asked "Does the original contribution still stand?" "Has anything happened in the ensuing years that would cause you to write the paper or book differently if you were to do it over again today?" "Where does our understanding of evaluation stand today, twenty-five years after the birth of the modern enterprise?"
