Focusing on Core Academic Outcomes: A Key to Successful School-Community Partnerships by Jacob Murray & Richard Weissbourd - 2003In this chapter, we discuss these emerging outcomes-based schoolcommunity
partnerships as one promising strategy, as we offer answers
to the following questions: Why have traditional school-community
partnerships—partnerships designed both to address health, social,
and emotional needs and to meet academic needs—had limited success?
Why might organizing at least some services toward achieving a
single-outcome goal, such as reading, be more fruitful? What are the
key elements of effective outcomes-based initiatives? Finally, how
