    CAROL GILES is an Associate Professor of Reading/Language Arts at the University of Missouri, Columbia, where she works with middle school and is the faculty coordinator of the Teaching Fellows, a rigorous induction program. She has written two books about talk, Cycles of Meaning (Heinemann) and Reading Conversations, (Heinemann). She also teaches an on-line graduate course in Literacy Coaching.
